Pathways is operated by Pathways AI LLC ("Pathways," "we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Email address — when you join our waitlist or sign up for the service
  • Account information — name, preferences, and goals you share when using the app
  • Content you create — journal entries, goals, check-ins, and interactions with the AI companion

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, session duration
  • Device information — device type, operating system, browser type
  • Log data — IP address, access times, referring URLs

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect health, medical, or biometric data
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, or files
  • We do not collect payment information (the service is currently free)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Provide the service — deliver personalized AI companion experiences, track your goals, and adapt to your preferences
  • Communicate with you — send waitlist updates, service announcements, and respond to inquiries
  • Improve the service — analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix issues
  • Ensure safety — detect abuse, fraud, and security threats

We will never sell your personal information. We do not display ads. We do not share your data for marketing purposes.

4. AI-Powered Features

Pathways uses artificial intelligence to power its companion feature. Here's what you should know:

  • How AI works in Pathways — the AI companion processes your check-ins, goals, and preferences to provide personalized guidance, daily challenges, and motivational support
  • Your data is not used to train AI models — we do not use your personal data, conversations, or content to train or improve our underlying AI models
  • AI limitations — the AI companion is not a licensed therapist, medical professional, or counselor. Its responses are generated by machine learning and may not always be accurate or appropriate
  • Human review — in rare cases, anonymized and aggregated interaction data may be reviewed to improve service quality, but your individual conversations remain private

5. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate Pathways:

  • Hosting — our website is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests and may log IP addresses
  • Waitlist management — waitlist submissions are processed via Google Apps Script and stored in Google Sheets
  • Email — confirmation emails are sent via Gmail/Google Workspace

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or social media platforms. Each third-party service is bound by their own privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary:

  • Waitlist emails — retained until you request removal or unsubscribe
  • Account data — retained while your account is active, deleted upon request
  • Usage logs — retained for up to 12 months for service improvement, then anonymized or deleted

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at info@my-pathways.ai.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out — opt out of certain data processing activities
  • Restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to opt-out of sale — we do not sell your personal information
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: Pathways does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not participate in data broker activities.

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (email address) and internet activity (usage data). This information was collected for the business purposes described in Section 3.

9. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, the following applies:

  • Lawful basis — we process your data based on your consent (waitlist signup) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the service
  • Data transfers — your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers
  • Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority

10. Children's Privacy

Pathways is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under these ages, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@my-pathways.ai.

11. Cookies & Tracking

Our website currently uses minimal cookies:

  • Essential cookies — necessary for the website to function (e.g., form submission state)
  • No tracking cookies — we do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies

If we add analytics or tracking in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice and controls.

12. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

  • All data is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only
  • We regularly review our security practices

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email (if we have your address) or by posting a prominent notice on our website. Your continued use of Pathways after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
